Mukilteo is a waterfront community situated on Puget Sound in southern Snohomish County. With views of the Olympic Mountains to the west and the Northern Cascade Mountains to the north and east, Mukilteo visitors will be in awe of its beauty.

Summer Lighthouse Tours
The historic Mukilteo Lighthouse has been in continuous operation since it was built in 1906. Tour the historic structure and climb the stairs to see the still functioning light up close. Step outside onto the catwalk for sweeping views of the sound and pir through the glass to view the 4th order Fresnel Lens built in France in 1852. The Mukilteo Historical Society opens the lighthouse on Summer weekends (April – September) Saturday, Sunday and some holidays from 1pm to 4pm. Tours are free but donations are appreciated. There is also a nice gift shop in one of the keepers quarters. The historic grounds are also a great spot for a picnic.
From Shore to Sky – Wildlife thrives in Mukilteo
Stroll along the Mukilteo waterfront and enjoy views of our local mountains and wildlife. Lighthouse Park even has firepits (first come/first serve) where you can gather along the driftwood strewn beach and listen to the waves. The Olympic mountains loom in the distance over Whidbey Island and summer sunsets can be brilliant. The snowcapped peak of Mount Baker can often be seen across the water. Pods of Orcas have been seen cruising off the beach at Lighthouse Park and Bald Eagles sore overhead and land in nearby trees. Orcas even went by one year during the lighthouse festival.
Launch a kayak, rowboat or larger craft from the boat launch at Lighthouse Park or fish or crab from the beach or one of the piers by Ivars or near the Ferry Terminal.

Japanese Gulch
From the Mukilteo waterfront you can connect to trails that run up through Japanese Gulch a 100+ acre urban forest. At the base of the stream there is even a fish ladder created and monitored by UW students. Hike, or bike through the trail system although we warn you some of the trails are steep. There is also a dog park adjacent Japanese Gulch off 5th street. Park Maps | Japanese Gulch Trail Maps | Big Gulch Trail Map
