Discovery of the USS Indianapolis

July 11 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Join us Thursday, July 11 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm for the unveiling of our new USS Indianapolis model. Tragically lost in the last weeks of the Second World War after it was attacked by a Japanese submarine, the Indianapolis had just completed its top-secret mission of delivering the components of one of the atomic bombs dropped on Japan.

Although the Indianapolis came to rest on the floor of the Pacific Ocean nearly 5,500 feet below sea level, Paul G. Allen’s Research Vessel (R/V) Petrel located the warship in 2017. Special guest David Reams, who oversees the team that operates (R/V) Petrel, will join us at FHCAM to share the story of this incredible discovery and other recent undersea finds.
