Aircraft Engines: Liquid Cooled to Jet Turbines
January 16 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Aircraft engineer and historian Barry Latter will discuss power plant advances made between 1927 and 1957. In the 20s, aircraft designs relied almost exclusively on air cooled radial engines. Water-cooled V-12 technology prior to WWII enabled more streamlined cowls but coincident vulnerability to a leaky coolant tank or line. Conversion to turbines enhanced aerodynamics, reliability and power. Join us to trace the progression in slides and exhibits.
Regular admission rates apply to the third presentation in HFF’s winter series on “The Grand Designs of the Golden Age of Aviation.”
